Nose: Maritime and industrial, coastal harbor, citrus and brine, brown sugar, grilled pineapple, charred wood, metallic and slightly antiseptic.
Palate: Medium to light-bodied, brine, pineapple, citrus, meaty at times, pepper, seashells, driftwood, a hint of slightly funky lanolin.
Finish: Medium-length with a gentle brine, sea shells, and metallic smoke.

Narrative & Notes: Harbor fumes blew in at the beach cove bar, with diesel, rubber, engine grease hit clean oceanic brine and citrusy margaritas. Brine and brown sugar hit grilled pineapple with hints of charred wood and dirty grill tops— a touch antiseptic and metallic at times, like someone cleaning the bar and grill. Medium to light-bodied and gentle, the flavor profile started with a salty brine washing in grilled pineapple, citrusy margaritas, and grill smoke. The palate was cleaner than the aroma with sweeter grilled pork and more tropical citrus. A touch of mineral-pepper bite, sea shells, driftwood, and hints of lanolin remained at the end. The finish was medium-length with a gentle brine, sea shells, and metallic smoke.
Wow! After finding the 4th edition of this blend a bit disappointing, I was shocked at how much I enjoyed this. The components of the blend were less complicated; instead of a recipe featuring various other blends, this contained a straightforward chunk of Caol Ila and Deanston with Clynelish and a healthy dose of the house-style Highland Blend making up another third. The flavors were more clearly defined on this blend and less acrid, though there were still dirty tugboat and grill top notions.
Overall, an upgrade on the typical peated blends from Compass Box— I am came to this seven years too late, but I would not mind a bottle of this.
