In 2022 Elixir Distillers acquired Tormore Distillery from Pernod Ricard. The first couple years of the new ownership regime were quiet, at least beyond the confines of the distillery. A number of “legacy” and “blueprint” products appeared in 2025 which laid out some of the typical house style of the Chivas years (or Allied period before that) and an agenda for the future. I was intrigued to see what the aficionados in charge of the distillery would do with it, so I picked up this bottle to get an idea.

Whisky: Tormore 10 Year “Blueprint Cask Program” Cream Sherry

Country/Region: Scotland/Speyside

ABV: 48%

Cask: Cream Sherry

Age: 10 Years (Bottled 2025)

Notes: The aroma was sweet and decadent with pudding cups, butterscotch, coconut, and dried fruits. Coffee cake and coconut cake donuts rolled in desiccated coconut flakes drifted toward cherry pie and berry cobbler. Medium to light bodied and oily on the palate, the flavors were simple and clean with plenty of sweet stewed berries, cherries, and strawberries. Richer notions of figs and caramel sat further in with coconut coffee cake and raisin cinnamon rolls. The fruits returned at the end with strawberry belts and dried fruit snacks. The finish was medium to long with stewed fruits, baking spices, and a touch of bitterness— like over-steeped tea.

Score: 6-7 (81)

Mental Image: Cherry Coconut Coffee Cake Delight

Conclusion: I was a fan of this whisky— no bells and whistles, it was just a straight forward sherry tipple.  Though the cask dominated the discussion, the fruity Tormore malt was not entirely lost. The adjusted abv left this easy to drink and with a surprising oiliness to the mouthfeel. I am not a massive sherry maturation fiend, but I loved this. It was so easy to drink and so inoffensive that it fit almost any mood. If this is a preview of what is to come from Tormore, then I remain very excited.
